Live Performance: The Tom Cleary Trio

The Tom Cleary Trio, including Tom Cleary on piano, John Rivers on bass and Jeff Salisbury on drums, joins George Thomas for live jazz in VPR's Performance Studio.
They'll preview their upcoming concert Sunday, April 18th at 3 p.m. at Christ Church Presbyterian in Burlington.
The concert, titled Tempus Fugue-it: Celebrating Bud Powell, will feature Bud Powell's compositions and other pieces that show how his contributions to the bebop style continue to influence musicians today. The concert will feature a wide variety of composers spanning from the 1940s to the present and will include an array of compositions ranging from the energetic to the meditative.
All three members of the trio are on the faculty of the UVM Music Department's Jazz Studies Program.
