Who was Louise Farrenc?

03/24/10 10:00AM By Walter Parker

Louise Farrenc

Louise Farrenc was a distinguished 19th century French pianist, composer, and teacher.  She became Professor of Piano at the Paris Conservatory in 1842.  For a decade she was paid less than her male counterparts.  Only after the successful premier of her Nonet, which we'll hear today, did she demand and receive equal pay.
