PoJazz Live In VPR Performance Studio

01/28/10 9:00PM By George Thomas

George Thomas welcomes PoJazz, Vermont's own poetry and jazz repertoire ensemble as the six musicians and four poets create new works from jazz standards and original poetry. The music is improvised as is the interaction between the words and jazz, recalling the era of Jack Kerouac and The Beat poets. Tony Whedon is the driving force behind the group, as a poet and trombonist but they operate fairly spontaneously in performance.

Vermont Poets tonight include: Tony Whedon; Tom Cote; Geoff Hewett and David Cavanagh.

Vermont musicians include: Tony Whedon-Trombone; Dan Silverman-Trombone; Lar Duggan-Piano; Barry Ries-Drums & Trumpet (sometimes simultaneously!); Will Patton-Upright Electric Bass; Steve Blair-Guitar
