Vermonter Peter Galbraith has a unique vantage point on the situation in Afghanistan: he served as the US envoy to the United Nations mission there.

Galbraith recently spoke at St. Michael's College. In his lecture, "Afghanistan: War of Necessity or Quagmire," he speaks about the difficulty of working with Afghanistan's unreliable local government, diverse population, and vast landscape. His talk was sponsored by the Vermont Council on World Affairs and the Lake Champlain Chamber of Commerce.
