150 years ago this week John Brown was executed in Charlestown,
Virginia for treason. President Abraham Lincoln called Brown a "misguided fanatic" for his raid at the
Harper's Ferry in an attempt to free the slaves. We talk to John Brown's biographer Louis
DeCaro and local historian Howard Coffin about how Brown is seen today: his life and legacy, why he was so important to so many Vermonters, and
why he's buried in the Adirondack Mountains. Listen
Also in the program, do ski areas inflate their snow reports? We talk to Eric Zitzewitz, professor of
economics at Dartmouth College, about research which he says show some ski areas
exaggerate snowfall totals. We also hear a response from Parker Riehle,
president of the Vermont Ski Areas Association. Listen
And we read from your letters.
