Workers with Disabilities

Vocational rehabilitation experts say that fear is the obstacle that keeps many employers from hiring workers with disabilities - fear of people who are different and fear of the federal bureaucracy that protects this potentially valuable labor resource. Hugh Bradshaw of VocRehab Vermont helps demystify the myths and explore new programs that help employers get beyond their reservations.

We hear from workers with disabilities about what it means to get a chance, and we talk with Rutland business owner David Townsend about what his company has learned from tapping this often-overlooked labor pool. (Listen)

Also on the program, Rutland Herald Business reporter Bruce Edwards examines the impact of soaring gas prices on car sales in Vermont. (Listen)

And we preview a summer exhibit at the Bennington Museum that explores the legacy of baseball in the Green Mountains. (Listen)
