Charitable Giving

The end of the year is a good time to reflect on the needs of others. And it's a crucial time for many of Vermont's charitable organizations, as evidenced by the number of solicitations piling up in mailboxes across the state. On this Boxing Day, we talk about the British tradition of giving gifts to the needy on December 26. And we have an in-depth conversation with Brian Byrnes, president of the Vermont Community Foundation, about charitable giving.

Also, our salute to the Boxing Day holiday continues with an examination of the differences between British and American English with Christopher Davies, author of "Divided By a Common Language." And our series looking back at the top stories of 2007 dives into politics.
