Lead Paint in Vermont's Housing
A ban on lead paint was passed in 1978, with public health officials
citing it as a cause of significant developmental problems and even
death in children. Nearly 30 years later, the consequences of lead
exposure are more serious than previously known, but Vermont is still
dealing with lead paint in the state's old housing stock. We talk with
Assistant Attorney General Wendy Morgan about enforcement of lead paint
laws, and we hear why rental unit owners have can have a difficult time
combating the problem.
Also in the program, political reporter John Gregg from the Valley News
gives us an update on the New Hampshire primary and the state's
intention of remaining the first-in-the-nation presidential contest. And
we continue our series of audio postcards from Vermont towns with a
visit to Jericho.
