Chief Justice of the United States John Roberts

10/27/06 12:00AM

A collaboration of VPR and Middlebury College

Chief Justice of the United States John Roberts reflectes on his time spent with the man he considers his mentor, William Rehnquist. He notes that these times demand a greater emphasis on the study of American history and culture. And he discusses the impact of technology on established law. Recorded live at Middlebury College.

Early in his career Roberts spent a year as clerk to his predecessor, the late Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist. He was an assistant to the U.S. Attorney General in the Department of Justice, and served as Associate Counsel to President Regan. He was invited to Middlebury College to help inaugurate the “William H. Rehnquist Professorship of American History and Culture.”
