Dave McGown

Dave is enjoying his dream retirement job at VPR. His
broadcasting career began at Dartmouth in
1965. It carried him from New Hampshire to Kwajalein in the Marshall
Islands to Maine, Vermont and Florida. Having lived on both sides of the
Atlantic and Pacific, he decided to raise his family in
Vermont. After seven years as an award-winning commercial copywriter/producer at WVMT-Burlington, Dave changed careers, joining the U S
Postal Service. For twenty years, he sorted and delivered mail to rapidly
multiplying households in South Burlington. He continued broadcasting
as a parttime newscaster at WVMT until 1997, then served as a Vermont
Public Television booth announcer for 6 years. Dave and his wife, Tina, have two daughters. Since 1984, they have lived in the same old house in Fairfax, where he shuttles firewood, gardens, and thinks about
tearing down his old horse barn by himself.
