A
key leader in the Legislature says he’s open to boosting transportation fund
revenues, but any money raised will have to be devoted to roads, bridges
and other transportation projects.
It’s estimated that the state
will need to raise roughly $30 million in new transportation revenue in
order to pull down the maximum amount of federal funds and there are several
revenue options being considered at the Statehouse.

Bellows Falls residents are concerned that since the closing of the
Vilas Bridge in 2009, the decreased flow of traffic into their community has been hurting local businesses and causing traffic
flow problems.
Killington’s
Select Board is
planning to make over the entrance to the central Vermont resort town along Route 4 and Route 100. The goal, town officials say, is to create "a true
sense of arrival" to the biggest ski area of the east.
Residents
in Dummerston will have to wait a little longer for repairs to a landmark
covered bridge over the West River. Officials have had to put the
work on the 140-year-old covered bridge out to bid again.
As the fiscal year comes to a
close at the end of the month, Vermont cities and towns are slowly restoring their budgets
for expenses related to Tropical Storm Irene.
The Vermont
Agency of Transportation is embarking on a series of highway
construction and repair projects that are part of the biggest
transportation spending plan in state history.
