General Electric Aviation of Rutland has been awarded an $8 million U.S. Navy contract for
the development and production of fighter engines for warfare aircraft.
In Rutland, organizers of the city’s newly expanded winter
farmer’s market say they’re thrilled with the community support they’ve
gotten. The larger location has boosted
attendance and sales for participating vendors.
Organizers of Rutland’s Gift of Life Marathon say appointments for the
upcoming blood drive on December 18th are lower than expected. They say that may be due to
long wait times last year. But
the Red Cross says it’s pulling out all the stops to ensure Rutland has one last shot at setting a national record.
Rutland’s winter farmers’
market will kick off its new season Saturday in a much larger location. Organizers are excited because it means more
vendors can take part. And city
officials are pleased because the market is moving into an old warehouse that’s
been vacant for years.
Interest in early voting is very high is several parts
of the state. In some communities it’s expected that as many as a third of all voters
will cast their ballot before Election Day.
Frustration over Rutland’s escalating addiction problems and drug crime came to a
boiling point last month, after a 17-year-old girl was struck and killed by a driver
allegedly high on aerosol fumes.
Drug
related crimes have escalated across Vermont
