This week, Vermont officials announced plans to continue a partnership with a Canadian airline that brings skiers from Toronto to Burlington. The state is putting tourism dollars behind the effort in hopes of expanding it in the future.

A Toronto-based airline is expanding service to Vermont during the ski season this winter.

The decline isn't surprising in light of a lack of natural snow in most places, but industry officials say Vermont actually fared better than other parts of the country. 

Ski resorts across Vermont are winding down several weeks earlier than usual. The warm weather has been frustrating for skiers, and even harder for businesses that depend on them.

Cross-country skiers of all ages and abilities descended upon Stowe over the weekend. Sunday was the second annual Stowe Tour de Snow. It's a family oriented cross-country ski event, with activity stations along five miles of Stowe's Recreation Path.  

After a disappointing Christmas holiday, Vermont's ski resorts say this week's snow couldn't have come at a better time. That's because Martin Luther King weekend has become such an important part of their season.

Record snow this past winter may have contributed to flooding across the state, but it also helped Vermont's ski industry enjoy its best season in years.

Vermont ski areas are hoping what's been the third-snowiest winter on record will nudge the skier-visit total over the 4 million mark.
