Two
different reports out this week paint two very different pictures of affordable
housing. One says housing is more
affordable for families than it’s been for 25 years. The
other says housing is unaffordable for many Vermonters.
The
increasing number of Vermont specialty food producers – many of them farmers – is
creating a demand for facilities where they can make their products. A
new business in Chittenden County is the latest food processing center to come on line
– and there are more in the planning stages.

its new President and CEO. The
appointment continues a tradition of appointing a non-family member as CEO of the

like it. They
enable entrepreneurs, artists and others to pitch an idea for a project and collect
donations to finance it. But
the day is coming when crowdfunding will be targeted to investors as well as
donors.

popular health insurance plan offered by Chambers Of Commerce is coming to an
end and many local chambers are concerned that without the plan they may lose
members.
State
Police say last week’s arrests in a case involving the theft of more than $200,000
worth of coins from an Alburgh home were the result of a recent law intended to
help them track down stolen jewelry. But
authorities say some of the area’s cash for gold dealers are ignoring the law
and making it easy for thieves to sell stolen jewelry.
The
Korean company planning to build a bio-tech facility in Newport is now likely
to create 450 permanent and 50 seasonal jobs, double the number proposed
in September.
Despite a slow national
economic recovery, Vermont’s revenues are coming in on target with projections. But according to a state economist revenues aren’t expected to grow much either.
Green Mountain Coffee Roasters shares gained
ground late Tuesday and into Wednesday on the heels of a fiscal fourth quarter performance that
far exceeded expectations.
