The U.S. Postal Service has
announced that the mail processing center in White River Junction will remain
open at least for another two years. It had been scheduled to close to help address a national Postal Service deficit.
The U.S. Postal Service says it will close its
facility in White River Junction. Staff at the plant was informed of the
decision yesterday in a statement and a video from the U.S. postmaster general.
Senator Bernie Sanders says he doesn’t want to see 100,000 postal
workers laid off in the midst of a recession. The plan by the postal service
includes 245 lay offs in the White River Junction area.
The federal agency charged with protecting worker safety says the U.S. Postal
Service endangered employees at its White River Junction mail processing
center by exposing them to
electrical hazards.
