The
state has closed down the Border Lodge Credit union in Derby Line. The Vermont Department of Financial Regulation says the action comes after examiners raised serious concerns
about the credit union’s operation.
Governor
Jim Douglas says he’s concerned that a state milk commission may try to
regulate retail prices. The
commission is considering the regulation as a way to get more money to farmers
without hurting consumers.
