Over the past month several Vermont communities have been calling for tighter gun
control. In the Upper Valley, petitioners are encouraging Vermont lawmakers to take up the issue. But the sponsor of
the only gun control bill on the table says there isn't enough support to move
it forward.
Nearly a year after many Vermont towns supported
resolutions calling for the reversal of the Supreme Court's Citizens United
decision that gave corporations the same rights as people, a new grassroots effort plans to
expand the idea by giving the Earth "rights."
Well
before dawn on Thanksgiving morning, Norwich Town Manager Neil Fulton got a
shock. He
was the acting fire chief for the holiday, so he got the call that the town's
three police squad cars were all ablaze in the department parking lot.
Police officers have always kept a
sharp eye out for vehicle license plates. But more and more of that looking
is being done by cameras hooked up to computers in their cruisers.
