The Agency of Natural Resources is launching a new initiative this week to control stormwater runoff, and the agency has a new approach to help cities and towns tackle the problem.

Isle La Motte's emergency management director said the town is working toward rejoining the national flood insurance program. The decision is a result of Isle La Motte's experience during the floods last spring, when Lake Champlain rose to historic levels.

The Town of Isle La Mott has decided to move its welcome sign to higher ground after record flooding this spring. This year during the flood the sign was submerged and water covered most of it.

 Isle La Motte residents voted overwhelmingly Saturday to use one-hundred-thousand-dollars that had been paid as restitution by former Town Clerk and Treasurer Suzanne LaBombard to cut the property tax rate.
