Vermont dodged the ravages of Hurricane Sandy two weeks ago,
but up and down the Eastern Seaboard many people are still suffering – and still
worried about heat and survival.
Seven Vermont
ambulances and teams of emergency personnel are helping out in New Jersey as
another storm approaches parts of the state already devastated by Superstorm
Sandy.
In
superstorm Sandy’s wake, the images and stories coming out of New York,
Connecticut and New Jersey are striking. Fourteen months after Tropical
Storm
Irene hit their state, Vermonters are paying it forward.
U.S.
Forest Service officials in Vermont and New York are urging extra caution for those who may want to
venture out in the woods in the days following the storm.
Governor Peter Shumlin
says Vermont has offered support and assistance to other states hit harder
by superstorm Sandy, including sending two Vermont National Guard helicopters to New Jersey.

officials who are relieved that Vermont dodged the extremely high
winds and massive power outages that Sandy brought to the mid-Atlantic coast.
