A natural gas pipeline in Addison County is attracting attention of property owners along the proposed route. And it's not Vermont Gas's proposal to extend its pipeline south to Middlebury. A Montpelier-based company wants to build a bio-methane gas production facility at a farm in Salisbury and then build a pipeline to send that gas to Middlebury College.

In about a year, two new foreign companies expect to be operating in Newport at the site of a former skiwear manufacturer. AnC Bio, a Korean bio-tech firm, and Menck Windows, a German company, are the centerpiece of a $600 million economic development initiative promising to bring 10,000 jobs to the Northeast Kingdom.

The CEOs of the two foreign companies that promise to bring more than 600 new jobs to Newport visited the future site of their operations Thursday in the lakefront building formerly occupied by Bogner ski wear.

Legislation to bring the state's hospitals under Vermont's Open Meeting Law faces an uphill battle at the Statehouse.

An oil spill in Arkansas may add urgency to Vermont legislation that would regulate oil pipelines. Environmentalists point to similarities between the pipeline in Arkansas that ruptured and one in northern Vermont that could be used to ship tar sands oil.

Bob Northrop devoted his life to support a variety of Vermont institutions.  He was best known for his efforts to protect the Long Trail. Northrup hiked the trail end to end many times over the years, most notably in 2001 at the age of 80. Northrup died this weekend at his home in Underhill.  He was 92.

In the past ten years, the number of trees that are tapped has tripled and technological advancements have doubled the amount of syrup produced for each tap.

A farm in Springfield that provides quail to high-end restaurants is regrouping after a devastating fire. More than 20,000 quail and 30 pigs died in the 19th century barn.

The Vermont Telecommunications Authority has terminated two grants awarded to the Springfield based broadband provider VTel. The decision stems from what was described as a performance problem with one grant.
