Besides picking a host of elected officials this November, Vermont voters will also be asked to amend the state’s Constitution.
The
amendment would allow 17-year-olds to vote in primaries if they turn 18 by Election
Day.
Vermont
won’t be extending the governor’s term in office anytime in the near
future, because a Senate Committee has rejected a proposed constitutional amendment creating a four year term.
Backers of a proposed constitutional amendment to create a
4 year term for governor say the outlook for their plan isn’t very good this
year. It’s uncertain if the proposal will even make it to
the Senate floor for a vote.
