The leading hard cider producer in the United States has been acquired by its chief rival across the pond. The Addison County-based Vermont Hard Cider Company agreed Tuesday to merge with the C&C Group of Ireland.

The Vergennes City Council has agreed to continue the town's farmers' market on the City Green from June through September of this year.
